The Textiles Lab
This lab provides a space for making garments, coverings and any other textile-based project.
In addition to a large layout and prep area with plenty of light, sturdy cutting mats and all the accessories you could need to lay out a formidable project, equipment also includes:
- Sewing, HUSQVARNA VIKING Designer Topaz 30
- Sewing, Brother 3034D serger
- Sewing, HUSQVARNA VIKING 5D™ Embroidery System software
- Juki 5550N Industrial Lockstitch
- ironing station
- garment steamer
The textile lab at the IMRC is located in a quiet, brightly lit nook next to the IMRC’s library room. The lab is now open for pre-scheduled work times Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 – 6pm or by appointment with the lab supervisor.
For the beginner or the expert alike, the textile lab is accommodated with two user-friendly sewing machines, a hybrid embroidery machine, a serger, and an industrial machine that can sew through thick materials such as leather. There is also an ironing and steam ironing set-up as well as all the tools you might need to piece together a project.
