The Intermedia MFA program is excited to continue their fall 2017 visiting artist lectures series, known as Tuesdays at the IMRC. This year’s visiting artist roster promises the community a robust season of contemporary artists from across the country and around the world.  Our fourth event on November 7th at 7:00p.m. is with Joline Blais and Jon Ippolito with a special performance in the IMRC APPE space.  You can find more details on the IMRC website here: http://intermediamfa.org/fall-2017/

Joline Blais, Associate Professor of New Media at UMaine, is a mother, educator, writer, permaculture practitioner, ecovillage founding partner, competitive rower, avid hiker, and alpine ski coach.  She co-directs Still Water, and co-founded LongGreenHouse, a “communiversity” project integrating the Wassokeag K-8 school, UMaine classes, permaculture practices, and Wabanaki Longhouse traditions. Her subsequent work at the Belfast Ecovillagespanned 8 years and involved permaculture design, art projects and workshops, land use governance, restorative justice facilitation, dynamic governance, non-violent communication and transition town training, and initial development of food forest orchards, as well as design, construction and research of a net-zero, solar energy “passive haus.”

Jon Ippolito is Professor of New Media and Director of the Digital Curation program at the University of Maine. He also co-directs the StillWater lab. His current projects–including the Variable Media Network, ThoughtMesh, and his co-authored books At the Edge of Art and Re-collection–aim to expand the art world beyond its traditional preoccupations. Jon teaches courses in Web design and development, remix culture, and digital preservation.
